now and again

our visit to seawa was a blur of food, coffee, movies and drizzle
and now it's back to....

trying to figure out how to budget my time
i have plenty to do to get ready for next semester
but i also want to have some time to slug around a bit
as well as
do a few house projects
& get some freakin' exercise
but there are really only 2 weeks
and there's a lot to do

text to edit
work to scan
web portfolio to design
pagination to plan
format to choose
sketches to start
data to research
my shoulders start creeping up to my ears just thinking about it

thank god that's over

what a day
so much anxiety
i knew i didn't have anything to worry about with my problem solving
i LOVE those guys!!!!!

but, i wasn't sure how the other was going to go
and it didn't really go very well
i did not choose the right approach
and i got some attitude
we had a long talk
i'm not sure i made any sense
i didn't have any way of explaining to him why i had such a hard time
why i hated every step of the way
and had absolutely no fun
and found it mind numbingly boring
i agreed to try and communicate better with him going forward
and he seems open
but, i think what i need to do is figure out how to finesse him and just do that
tell him what he wants to hear
and do a little worshiping at the alter of his swiss modern-ness

i do know that i am actually excited about my degree project
and i feel certain that i will be able to maintain that enthusiasm over the next semester
all i need to do is hit the ground running next semester
which means that i need to do a fair amount of work over break in preparation
so my break won't be much of a break

6 more months people (and only 15 weeks of school)
and this chapter will be OVER!

PS
the best part of my day was meeting some of my peers
for cocktails at a dive bar around the corner from school
so much fun that i blew off the book party
(i just popped my head in there before josh picked me up
to go out for sushi dinner, and i don't think i missed much)
we had a really nice decompression bitch-fest
it was really nice to see them outside the halls of the 6th floor
and to get their various perspectives on this experience

to the finish line

i had my last class on friday
my final crits are on thursday
and then i have 5 days before we fly to seawa for a week
go go go

there are at least 1,000 other things i should be doing
but, motivationally speaking i'm having a little trouble
i feel like there is ample time
but there is really only the next 48 hours or so
and the to do list is still pretty long
writing a blog entry is definitely not on the list
neither is watching the survivor finale that i taped from last night
or sorting through all the wedding photos we got last night

it snowed!

and we celebrated with the first batch of oatmeal of the season
only steel cut at our house, no wimpy rolled oats for us

and can i rave about our new flannel sheets?
they are heavyweight and they are chocolate/coffee colored
and they create an insulated cozy pod
that protects us from the coldness that is winter
they are so cozy and warm it makes me want to go crazy
so that i never have to get out of bed
ever
or at least until the spring thaw

we are currently roasting a chicken for dinner
with roasty root vegetables
and josh is going to make fresh hot peanut butter chocolate chunk cookies for dessert
it's officially winter!
